“I’m Rizza Umali. I’m graduating from my honours in Biology. I chose Newfoundland and MUN because it was literally my only chance of attending post-secondary education. Even if I stayed home tuition fees would be even more expesive and that would include living at home.

I’ve basically fallen in love with Newfoundland. Since I’ve been here I’ve spent a lot of time in rural Newfoundland and I intend to go to Medical School and practice here – I do plan on continuing to contribute to the Newfoundland economy because it’s given so much to me.

I’m an international student so we already pay three times as much as Canadian students and that has been really hard.

The tuition freeze is incredibly important because for some students, this is the only place they have a chance to get a post-secondary education.”
