“An increase in tuition fees would have a major affect on students who are completing unpaid field placements.

Social work students are required, as part of their program to complete two field placements, which may both be unpaid. Therefore, these students are required to pay to work.

The government needs to understand the type of impact this can have on students, as some students have to work to put themselves through school. Students can easily become burnt out and stressed, and cannot experience this educational opportunity to the full extent.

A tuition increase would not only negatively affect the two of us, but all students who are required to complete unpaid field placements.”
